BYD IS GEARING UP TO LAUNCH two new electric vehicles, the ATTO 1 and ATTO 2, ahead of their Australian debuts.
Compact, efficient, and packed with advanced technology, the ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 are everyday EVs designed to meet the diverse needs of Australian drivers, making BYD’s cutting-edge Blade Battery technology, world-leading design, and intelligent features even more accessible.
With a launch date confirmed for November 13, the BYD ATTO 1 is poised to become Australia’s most affordable EV.
The ATTO 1 packs serious technology, including BYD’s world-renowned Blade Battery, acclaimed for its class-leading safety, durability, and efficiency.
Dubbed the BYD DOLPHIN SURF in Europe and BYD SEAGULL in China, the vehicle has already surpassed one million units sold worldwide. Its international acclaim includes winning the ‘2025 World Urban Car of the Year’ at the World Car Awards, and being named one of TIME Magazine’s ‘Best Inventions of 2025’, reinforcing its credentials as a top-tier city EV.
Two ATTO 1 variants will be available: Essential and Premium, delivering 65kW of power and 175Nm of torque (Essential), and 115kW of power and 220Nm of torque (Premium), respectively, with both sending power to the front wheels.
The Essential variant features a 30kWh Blade Battery with up to 220km of range, while the Premium steps up to a 43.2kWh unit offering up to 310km (WLTP).
DC fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes enables quick and convenient top-ups at home or on the go, ensuring the ATTO 1 is well-suited to city lifestyles, whether for daily commutes, school drop-offs, or visiting friends and family.
Both variants feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, synthetic leather seats, and generous boot space, along with six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and BYD’s Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
Above it, BYD ATTO 2 steps into the compact SUV segment with a focus on dynamics, accessibility, and elevated refinement.
Both variants are powered by a responsive 130kW electric motor delivering 290Nm of torque, paired with a 51.3kWh Blade Battery that offers up to 345km of WLTP range. Fast charging from 10 to 80 percent takes approximately 39 minutes, with a peak charging rate of up to 82kW.
While both variants deliver impressive efficiency and practicality, the Premium elevates the experience with standout features including a 360-degree camera (vs a rear-view camera on Dynamic), a larger 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen (vs 10.1-inch on Dynamic), power-adjustable front seats, and an immersive 8-speaker audio system (versus four speakers in the Dynamic).
An auto-dimming rear-view mirror and heated and ventilated front seats further enhance comfort, adding a layer of luxury to every drive.
With up to 1320L of boot space and BYD’s advanced DiPilot driver-assist suite standard across the range, the ATTO 2 delivers the space, smarts, and safety expected of a modern SUV that’s as capable on the weekday commute as it is on weekend adventures.
“At BYD, our goal has always been to bring advanced EV technology to the masses,” said Stephen Collins, BYD Australia COO.
“It’s not just the pricing that has a real wow factor for these vehicles, but the sheer level of technology and innovative features that present real value for money.”
Expressions of interest for ATTO 1 and ATTO 2 are now open, with the vehicles available for order from mid-November.
