THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT THAT the price gap between EVs and ICE vehicles is coming down all the time.

Latest to announce an affordable EV is Chery, stating the Model Year 2026 (MY26) E5 Ultimate is now available from just $37,990 driveaway.

The updated pricing positions the E5 as one of the most attainable electric SUVs in the Australian market, delivering a compelling combination of technology, efficiency and everyday practicality at an affordable price point.

The MY26 E5 continues to offer the features Australian buyers expect from a modern electric SUV, including a high-efficiency electric drivetrain with a 430km range, advanced safety systems and a well-appointed interior with intuitive connectivity with Apple Car Play/Android Auto.

Lucas Harris, Chief Operating Officer, Chery Australia, said the new pricing strengthens the brand’s position in the rapidly growing EV segment.

“The MY26 E5 represents our commitment to making electric vehicles more accessible to more Australians. At $37,990 driveaway, the E5 delivers exceptional value in a practical SUV package, without asking customers to compromise on features, safety or technology.”

Designed with urban lifestyles in mind, the E5 combines compact SUV proportions with a spacious interior, making it well suited to both city commuting and weekend driving with a full-sized spare wheel as standard.

The MY26 update ensures the E5 remains competitive in a fast-moving segment, as more Australians consider making the switch to electric vehicles.

The E5 Ultimate is available to order now through Chery Australia’s national dealer network and will be the only variant for the MY26 model.
