KOREAN CAR COMPANY KGM has announced the launch of it Musso ute in electric format. The Musso is the company’s first fully electric ute.

“This is more than just an electric Ute – it’s a turning point,” said Joseph Lee, Managing Director at KGM Australia. “The Musso EV is purpose-built for lifestyle drivers who want practicality, efficiency and weekend-ready versatility in one package. It’s a vehicle that embraces the outdoor lifestyle while pushing the boundaries of innovation. This highly anticipated new vehicle offers KGM Australia the opportunity to lead into the lifestyle electric Ute space.”

Exterior Design

The Musso EV’s exterior reflects KGM’s design philosophy, “Powered by toughness,” combining rugged practicality and the refined styling of an SUV.

The front end boasts a sculptured bonnet, horizontal dot-pattern LED daytime running lights with integrated turn signals and LED headlights emphasising its high-tech EV identity. The three-dimensional black grille and silver skid plate all come together to create a powerfully striking Ute design.

The purposeful side profile presents a cohesive design, uniting the tub and cabin with dynamic character lines and styling highlights. The bold wheel arches and door garnishes add to the rugged look, while the C-pillar with integrated sail plane and “Rhino” emblem signifies Musso’s heritage of strength, grandeur, and unshakable confidence.

The distinctive identity continues at the rear with a bold, debossed KGM logo on the tailgate, stylish LED combination lights, and a defined rear bumper with a skid plate and integrated steps at each corner.

Interior Design

Inside, the Musso EV adopts the Slim & Wide concept. The panoramic dashboard features an integrated 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 12.3-inch centre touchscreen, all powered by KGM’s next-generation Athena 2.0, delivering faster, more intuitive usability.

The interior is crafted with premium materials and offers superior space and practicality with convenient features such as powered, heated and cooled seats up front and ambient interior lighting. The same high standard of comfort extends to the rear passengers with adjustable 60/40 seats complimented by heating for the outer positions.

Space and Practicality

The Musso EV combines the versatility of a Ute with the generous second-row space of a mid-size SUV, making it a practical choice for both family duties and weekend activities.

Sharing its tub dimensions with Musso, it includes eight tie-down hooks for securing camping gear, bicycles, surfboards, and other leisure equipment. A durable, moulded tub liner comes standard and extends over the top edge of the tub for extra protection. The rear tub also includes lighting for improved visibility when loading or unloading after dark.

Inside, the rear seats offer generous legroom and cabin width – surpassing typical mid-size SUV standards – alongside 1002mm of headroom. Rear seats also feature an 80 mm sliding range and 32-degrees reclining angle, complemented by a 60/40 split-fold configuration for flexible cargo space and enhanced passenger comfort.

Effortless load handling – whether towing a trailer or packing the tub, the Musso EV’s self-levelling rear suspension keeps everything balanced by automatically maintaining the ideal ride height. This advanced, factory-fitted system enhances stability and safety under heavy loads, outperforming traditional suspension setups. It’s a smart feature tailored for a versatile EV Ute built to tackle both work duties and weekend adventures.

EV System

The Musso EV is powered by an 80.6kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) blade battery, renowned for its exceptional durability and heat resistance. The 2WD model features a 152kW front motor delivering 339 Nm of torque, while the AWD variant adds a 152kW/339Nm rear motor and boosts the combined system output to 266kW and 630Nm.

The 2WD model boasts an impressive, combined range of 420km per charge with an energy efficiency of 230Wh/km. In contrast, the AWD variant offers a slightly lower range of 380km, with an efficiency of 260Wh/km.

The advanced Cell-to-Cell (CTC) technology increases energy density, while the impact-resistant pack design enhances both protection and performance.

Regenerative braking is adjustable across three levels via steering wheel-mounted paddles, while the intelligent system automatically adapts to road gradients and surrounding traffic, maximising energy recovery.

With 300kW DC fast charging, the battery can recharge from 20 percent to 80 percent in approximately 31 minutes. Customisable charging targets add further flexibility, and built-in Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality enables external power supply for camping gear, tools, or outdoor appliances.
