FOLLOWING THE SUCCESSFUL INTRODUCTION of Edition R variants on the Mercedes-AMG C 43, GLC 43 and selected compact models, Mercedes-Benz Australia is now expanding the Edition R range to the GLE 53 SUV and Coupé. These special editions are engineered to deliver both dynamic capability and bold visual distinction. Designed to make an impactful on-road statement, the Edition R packages exclusive AMG performance components and unmistakable styling cues in an attractive new offering that opens the door to the AMG brand experience.
The GLE 53 Edition R is powered by AMG’s inline-six engine paired with electrified technology and fine-tuned chassis systems, delivering 320kW of power and 560Nm torque. Equipped with the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package, the Edition R benefits from advanced components such as AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL active roll stabilisation, and the AMG high-performance composite braking system with red-painted callipers and black AMG lettering. The high-performance composite braking system features front discs measuring 400 x 38mm and rear discs 370 x 32mm. This combination ensures sharper handling, greater stability, and braking confidence to match the vehicle’s commanding design.
Design highlights
A defining feature of the Edition R are the 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels, painted matt black with a high-sheen rim flange. These wheels set the tone for the Edition R’s bold stance. Optional MANUFAKTUR paint finishes are available at cost on both the SUV and Coupé.
Inside, performance-inspired highlights continue with brushed aluminium trim and red seatbelts. The SUV variant is offered with ARTICO man-made leather upholstery with red stitching, while the Coupé retains its signature interior trim in black AMG nappa leather. A key feature of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Edition R is the AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather/MICROCUT microfibre, and AMG steering wheel buttons.

The GLE 53 Edition R SUV is priced at $184,100 (plus on road costs), while the GLE 53 Edition R Coupé is available from $188,100 (plus on road costs).
