MORE STYLISH, MORE CONNECTED and with longer intervals between services, Nissan is hoping the new X-Trail will be a winner.

Since its local introduction in 2001, the X-TRAIL has amassed over 330,000 sales and is one of the most popular models in Nissan Australia’s line-up.

The updated X-TRAIL range boasts design enhancements, advanced technology features and an increase in service intervals, boosting the appeal that has made it a standout in Australia’s competitive medium SUV segment.

For 2026, X-TRAIL features refreshed front and rear styling, updated 18- and 19-inch wheel designs on select grades, enhanced interior materials and finishes, and the introduction of Nissan’s Connected Car Services (CCS 1.0) technology across the entire range. All grades now also offer a 12.3-inch Infotainment Screen and Wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto as standard.

“The 2026 X-TRAIL brings together refreshed design, upgraded interior appointments and the introduction of Connected Car Services with expanded in-car technology,” said Andrew Humberstone, Managing Director, Nissan Oceania.

“It offers a more premium, more connected and more affordable ownership experience, while honouring the versatility and capability that more than 330,000 Australian customers have embraced since 2001.”

“We know cost of ownership matters more than ever. With longer service intervals and the backing of our 10-year, 300,000-kilometre Nissan MORE warranty, the updated X-TRAIL offers a stronger value proposition—delivering greater certainty, lower running costs and genuine peace of mind for customers throughout their ownership journey.”

Refreshed Design

The X-TRAIL range showcases Nissan’s latest design philosophy, featuring a distinctive new fascia with an evolved V-Motion grille, redesigned front bumper, and fresh LED lighting signatures, that combine with an updated rear bumper and new 18- and 19-inch wheel designs on select grades to create a more premium and confident presence on the road.

Two new exterior colour options, ‘Deep Ocean Blue’ and ‘Everest White’, join the palette, while a new ‘Chestnut’ interior colour combination is added for the Ti-L grade, replacing Tan. On all variants with the black interior, the upper dash and door trims transition from brown to black, elevating the cabin’s cohesive feel.

X-TRAIL customers will also enjoy a revised steering wheel design and an upgraded genuine leather-accented interior on the mid-grade ST-L, replacing the previous synthetic leather trim. Front passengers on the ST-L now enjoy 10-way power seat adjustment, including 2-way lumbar support, matching the driver’s seat and replacing the previous manual adjustment.

Advanced Technology Integration

The introduction of Connected Car Services (CCS 1.0) as standard equipment represents a significant technological advancement for the Nissan X-TRAIL range, delivering comprehensive remote vehicle monitoring and control capabilities.

The system offers features such as remote engine start on the Ti-L derivative, vehicle health reporting, theft/burglar notifications, and maintenance alerts, all of which are managed through a dedicated smartphone app.

Customers who select the entry-level ST grade will now also enjoy a 12.3-inch touchscreen display (previously 8.0 inches) with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

From the ST-L grade and above, the updated X-TRAIL also features enhanced 3D Around View Monitor technology – allowing customers to virtually rotate the vehicle or select from eight different camera views to improve parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.

The updated system now includes advanced features such as Skeleton Hood view for improved visibility on narrow roads – including greater visibility of obstacles at wheel and ground levels, helping in narrow spaces where precise positioning is necessary – and Multi View support for T-junction scenarios – which provides greater confidence during parking and low-speed manoeuvring and increasing visibility with a Wide angle view – which is useful in intersections with poor side visibility.

e-POWER: Hybrid Re-Invented

The new X-TRAIL continues to offer Nissan’s innovative e-POWER technology, delivering hybrid re-invented through 100 percent electric motor drive with no plug-in requirements. The refined system maintains the smooth, quiet operation and instant acceleration response that has made e-POWER popular with Australian families.

Available e-POWER variants feature the advanced e-4ORCE all-wheel drive system, combining the benefits of electric motor drive with intelligent torque distribution for enhanced traction and stability across diverse Australian driving conditions.

Comprehensive Safety and Convenience

The MY26 Nissan X-TRAIL maintains its comprehensive Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite, with grades from ST-L and above benefiting from ProPilot with Lane Keep Assist for enhanced highway driving confidence. The updated model continues to offer features including Intelligent Cruise Control, Forward Emergency Braking with Junction functionality, and Blind Spot Warning with Intervention.

Convenience features, such as the hands-free power tailgate (on Ti and Ti-L grades), wireless charging, and dual-zone climate control (with tri-zone control in Ti-L grade), ensure the X-TRAIL continues to meet the practical needs of busy Australian families.

Grade Structure and Availability

The new X-TRAIL will be available across ST, ST-L, Ti and Ti-L grades, with both conventional ICE and e-POWER e-4ORCE variants offered. The range continues to provide five-seat and seven-seat configurations to suit varying family requirements.

All X-TRAIL variants will be backed by Nissan’s 10-year/300,000km Nissan MORE warranty which includes up to 10 years/300,000km of Roadside Assistance when serviced at authorised Nissan dealers. The Nissan MORE program also sees the MY26 X-TRAIL enjoy flat price servicing cost of $399 for the first five years, which combined with longer service intervals offers a notable saving for owners.
