THE MOVE TO HYBRIDS, AND ESPECIALLY plug-in hybrids shows no signs of abating. Latest to introduce a PHEV is Škoda which is introducing an advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) to the Kodiaq range, promising an ideal combination of high specification and long electric range.

From early 2026, the Kodiaq Select PHEV will be positioned between the Kodiaq Sportline and just-launched Kodiaq RS as a comfort-focused complement to those sports-oriented SUVs.

With 150kW and 350Nm from its combination of a 1.5 TSI petrol engine and 85kW/330Nm electric motor, the Kodiaq Select PHEV delivers zero to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds.

It also offers up to 112km of WLTP range, with 11kW AC charging and 50kW DC charging for an ideal blend of on-road charging options, and just 1.85L/100km combined cycle fuel consumption.

Customers can select E-mode electric drive or hybrid drive options in the vehicle touchscreen, with a choice of low, high or automatic brake energy recuperation and two battery power usage methods – automatic (which can use the engine to recharge the battery) and manual (which exclusively awaits plug-in charging to recharge the battery).

With five seats, the plug-in version of the Kodiaq features an expansive 745 litre boot volume.

The Kodiaq Select PHEV gets the same high level of standard equipment as every Select, including: 19-inch alloy wheels, keyless access, heated and power folding door mirrors, power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, tri-zone climate control air conditioning, 13-inch infotainment with DAB+ and navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, twin wireless chargers with 15W and active ventilation plus five USB-C ports (including rear-view mirror port).

Adaptive Cruise Control with Travel Assist and Traffic Jam Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist with Adaptive Lane Guidance, Turn Assist, Front Assist, Emergency Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition and 9 airbags are standard.

With the Launch Edition version of the Kodiaq having finished its production run, a new Select with Signature Package will be offered across the 2.0 TSI and PHEV line-up.

The Signature Package includes eight-way massage front seats, power adjustable passenger seat with lumbar and memory, Intelligent Park Assist, Surround Area View, Matrix LED headlights with Dynamic Light Assist, illuminated front grille, Virtual Pedal (hands free tailgate), heated steering wheel, heated outboard seats, head-up display
and rear dynamic indicators.

Škoda product manager Aline Carrullo said the Kodiaq Select PHEV focuses on making a leading large SUV even more efficient, technology packed and desirable.

“For customers who want the most cutting-edge technology, our latest plug-in hybrid electric vehicle powertrain in the Kodiaq Select offers over 100km of electric range together with the flexibility of AC and DC charging,” Ms Carrullo said.

“The Kodiaq Select PHEV is the perfect complement to both our Kodiaq Sportline and Kodiaq RS, positioned in between both with an emphasis on style, technology and premium appointments.”

The Škoda Kodiaq Select PHEV will arrive in showrooms in the first quarter of 2026. The Kodiaq Select 2.0 TSI 4×4, Sportline 2.0 TSI 4×4 and RS 4×4 are on sale now.
