AFTER A PRODUCTION PAUSE that disappointed many keen buyers, the Suzuki Jimny 3-door is making a welcome return to Australian showrooms in early 2026. Even better, it returns with a host of key updates focused on safety, technology, and driver convenience.
Both Jimny 3-door variants, Jimny Lite and Jimny, will benefit from these enhancements, delivering more modern features while staying true to the model’s rugged, retro appeal.
Key new features include:
- Jimny Lite: 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Jimny: 9-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Front and rear parking sensors
- Dual Sensor Brake Support II (DSBS II)
- Lane departure prevention
- Adaptive cruise control
While Suzuki was forced to await updates to meet ADR compliance requirements, the production pause created an opportunity to further refine the Jimny package. Suzuki used this time to introduce a range of enhancements that build on the model’s already exciting offering. One nostalgic feature has been retired, the Jimny Lite no longer includes a CD player, previously making it one of the last new vehicles in Australia to still offer one.
“We’re excited to be reintroducing the updated Jimny to Australian roads for 2026,” said Michael Pachota, General Manager – Automobile, Suzuki Australia. “Our customers are incredibly passionate about this model, and the new safety and connectivity updates make it even more appealing. The Jimny has always stood out as an iconic, capable, and authentic 4×4.”
For over 50 years, the Suzuki Jimny has been celebrated as the ultimate compact 4×4, small in size, big in personality, and unstoppable in capability. With its nostalgic retro styling, lightweight agility, and uncompromising toughness, the Jimny has cultivated a cult following around the world.
In Australia, this community spirit is so strong that it’s inspired an unofficial tradition known as ‘Jimny Law’ where owners, when parking, are compelled to park next to any other Jimny they spot. It’s a light-hearted reflection of the camaraderie the vehicle inspires.
Beyond its undeniable off-road capabilities, the Jimny continues to prove its profound market desirability. According to 2025 Automotive Insight Reports (AIR), compiled by AutoGrab and the Australian Automotive Dealer Association, the Jimny leads the SUV segment in retained value, with 2-4 year old used Jimny sales achieving some of the strongest resale results in the industry, and continuing to do so. This is a testament to its enduring demand and unmatched ownership appeal.
The new Jimny 3-door is expected to arrive February 2026, with the Jimny Lite now starting at $31,990 (plus on road costs), the Jimny manual recommended price is from $33,990, while the automatic variant is available from $36,490.
