MINI CONTINUES TO MAINTAIN interest in the model by announcing limited edition bespoke editions. The latest is the MINI Paul Smith Edition – which had its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show.
The edition will debut with the launch of the MINI Cooper Electric in March 2026, followed by the MINI Cooper 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models in late 2026. It combines Paul Smith’s signature design language with MINI’s advanced all-electric technology.
Commenting on the collaboration, Sir Paul Smith said, “It’s not often that two icons of British design work together in this way, and it’s wonderful that our partnership has lasted so many years. The MINI Paul Smith Edition has been a real privilege, offering new colours and unexpected details that will be a welcomed surprise.”

Blending MINI’s design with Paul Smith’s distinctive creative flair, the new edition features three exterior colours, sophisticated accents and playful details that honour both brand’s shared history.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition is offered in three exterior paint finishes, two of which are edition-exclusive:
Statement Grey, a modern interpretation of the 1959 Mini Austin Seven grey, with a bluish tint for timeless appeal.
Inspired White, a contemporary homage to the popular Classic Mini Beige.
Midnight Black Metallic, elegant and enduring, from the current MINI family.
Regardless of the body colour, the specially created Nottingham Green paintwork – a tribute to Sir Paul’s hometown – adds sophisticated accents to the side mirrors, the octagonal radiator grille, the wheel hub covers with Paul Smith lettering and as the paintwork for one of the two roof variants.
In addition to the colour variants, numerous details characterise Paul Smith’s signature and make the MINI Paul Smith Edition unmistakable. The ‘Signature Stripe’, a central design feature of the British designer, adorns the roof in Nottingham Green at the rear of the driver’s side. The alternative version of the roof features elegant stripes in Jet Black in varying thickness, both matte and glossy. The MINI Cooper Convertible Paul Smith Edition is supplied with a black soft top.
All models are equipped with 18-inch Night Spoke aluminium wheels in Dark Steel Flash, while a redesigned MINI logo in newly designed Black Blue and complements the edition’s striking palette. Paul Smith’s signature appears on the rear handle strip, underscoring the creative spirit behind the collaboration.

Inside, the Paul Smith edition showcases craftsmanship and restraint with modern textures and playful surprises. Knitted black surfaces on the dashboard and door panels are inspired by Paul Smith’s tone-on-tone stripe patterns and fabrics, while Nightshade Blue sports seats in Vescin feature knitted textile inserts on the shoulder and headrests. Decorative stitching on the steering wheel adds pop of bright colour, quintessentially Paul Smith.

A Timeline of Collaboration: From Classic to Contemporary.
Debut of the new edition represents a new chapter in the success story of the two British brands that began in 1998, when Sir Paul Smith first wrapped a Classic Mini Cooper in his trademark design.
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Classic Mini in 1999, the fashion designer lent his characteristic Paul Smith “Signature Stripes” to a one-off model using 86 stripes in 26 colours.
In 2021, the MINI STRIP celebrated its world premiere: a vehicle designed using only what Paul Smith considered absolutely necessary. The result was a customised one-off car that despite its minimalist design and in keeping with Smith’s guiding principle of ‘classic with a twist’, was not without unexpected and loving details.
In 2022, Paul Smith revisited the partnership with MINI Recharged by Paul Smith transforming a Classic Mini from the 1998 MINI Paul Smith Edition into a modernised electric vehicle – a contemporary tribute to MINI’s heritage, built with a focus on quality and functionality.
