VOLKSWAGEN HAS EXPANDED THE Polo range with the addition of the CityLife, which it says is more attainable and wears additional equipment beyond the entry-level Polo Life.

From $32,790 (plus on road costs), the Volkswagen Polo CityLife adds 16-inch Torsby alloy wheels, dark tinted privacy glass, keyless access, dual-zone climate control air conditioning, Park Assist, Side Assist with Rear Traffic Alert and a Proactive Occupant Protection System as standard.

As with the T-Cross and T-Roc CityLife special editions, a CityLife badge is applied to the tailgate of the Polo.

The Polo CityLife also features the Life’s dusk sensing LED headlights, rain sensing wipers, height adjustable front seats with lumbar adjustment, adjustable front centre armrest, illuminated vanity mirrors, leather covered steering wheel with gearshift paddles, Digital Cockpit, 8.0-inch touchscreen, DAB+ digital radio, four USB-C ports and wireless phone charging.

From model year 2026 (MY26) every Volkswagen Polo further includes wireless App-Connect – newly standard on the Life at no extra cost, and now the CityLife.

Earlier this year Volkswagen Australia also upgraded the Polo Life with standard Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Assist and – in combination of these two technologies – the highly acclaimed Travel Assist.

Volkswagen’s Travel Assist is an assistance system for partly automated driving. At the push of a button, Travel Assist can support the driver in monotonous and tiring driving situations commonly encountered on long motorway journeys. It combines the functions of ACC and Lane Assist with adaptive lane guidance to accelerate, brake and maintain the vehicle’s position within its lane.

Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles product manager Todd Ford said the Polo CityLife delivers German engineering excellence at an attainable price point.

“In its current generation the Volkswagen Polo challenges vehicles from the class above with its spacious cabin, 351-litre luggage capacity, great refinement and polished dynamics,” Mr Ford said.

“The Polo CityLife combines the best of the Polo Life with higher specification that customers will love, delivering an ideal blend of style, efficiency and appointments – all for a great price.”

The Volkswagen Polo CityLife is powered by a refined 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine delivering 200Nm of torque from 2000rpm to 3500rpm, and 85kW of power from 5000rpm to 5500rpm.

With a seven-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) the Polo delivers fuel efficiency from 5.5L/100km in combined cycle testing.

The Polo CityLife will be available in Volkswagen dealerships from November. It is the third CityLife model after the limited-run T-Cross CityLife in 2021, and the series production T-Roc CityLife.
