CHASSIS: LOCAL TUNING
Elexio benefits from an extensive local tune of its MacPherson strut front and multilink rear suspensions, to deliver a superb blend of comfort, stability, refinement and handling.
Hyundai Motor Company engineers visited Sydney and worked in conjunction with the local Australian tuning team, to develop a bespoke local ride and handling package.
The localisation program evaluated a range of suspension components (including springs, dampers and anti-roll bars).
This gave rise to the development of bespoke Australian suspension and steering tunes, to best suit our broad spectrum of uniquely challenging road conditions.
SAFETY
Elexio cocoons occupants in a strong and rigid body structure, with the protection of nine Airbags, including front centre side and rear side thorax airbags.
Hyundai SmartSense
Elexio features a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems including the advanced second-generation Collision-avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2), Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), and Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA 2) technologies.
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance-Assist (BCA)
Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance-Assist provides a visual alert the driver to the presence of traffic in the blind-spot area. When a turn signal is engaged, such as when changing lane or exiting a parallel parking space, BCA will sound an alert and can apply braking assistance to help prevent a collision.
Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM)
When a turn signal is activated, the Blind-Spot View Monitor presents a camera view from the corresponding side of the vehicle. Compared with conventional side mirrors, BVM provides a viewing angle that is approximately twice as large.
Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
Driver Attention Warning monitors the driver and can provide both audible and visual warnings if it detects they are driving inattentively. The system utilises the Forward Attention Warning function, taking inputs from the In-Cabin Camera (ICC) and Hands-On Detection (HOD) system.
In addition, a Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA) function provides audible and visual driver alerts when the vehicle ahead departs after a stop.
Forward Collision-avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2)
Forward Collision-avoidance Assist 2 warns the driver if the vehicle ahead suddenly slows or if the risk of collision with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected. If the risk of collision increases after a warning, FCA 2 automatically assists with braking.
The system operates across range of specific driving situations:
- Junction Turning: Provides a warning and assistance to prevent a collision with an oncoming vehicle when turning left at an intersection with the turn signal activated.
- Junction Crossing: Provides a warning and assistance to prevent a collision with a vehicle approaching from the left or right when driving straight at an intersection.
- Lane-change Oncoming: Issues a warning and subsequent assistance to avoid a potential collision with an oncoming vehicle while changing lanes.
- Lane-change Side: Provides a warning and subsequent assistance to avoid a potential collision with a vehicle ahead or in the adjacent lane while changing lanes.
- Direct Oncoming: Warns if the risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle is detected and automatically assists with braking if the risk of collision increases after the warning is issued.
- Evasive Steering Assist: Provides evasive steering assistance as required, where there is space to evade the collision.
Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2)
Highway Driving Assist 2 functions during the operation of the Smart Cruise Control or Lane-Following Assist systems to adjust Elexio’s steering and speed and keep the vehicle centred in the lane and a safe distance from the car ahead.
In addition, HDA 2 can assist with lane changes under certain conditions. For example, when a vehicle in the next lane approaches at high speed, the system can provide steering and braking input to maintain a safe vehicle position. The system can also intervene to mitigate risk in the event a vehicle nearby enters Elexio’s lane suddenly.
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA)
Intelligent Speed Limit Assist combines road sign recognition with navigation data, to inform the driver of the current speed limit.
If the recognised speed limit changes during Smart Cruise Control or Manual Speed Limit Assist operation, a corresponding increase or decrease speed message is displayed, prompting the driver to adjust the set speed, to stay within the speed limit.
Lane Following Assist 2 (LFA 2)
Lane Following Assist 2 provides steering assistance to keep Elexio centred in the lane, using the windscreen-mounted camera to recognise lane markings. If lane markings are not detected, the system will use the vehicle ahead as a point of reference to assist with steering for a period of time.
Lane Keeping Assist (LKA)
The Lane Keeping Assist system uses the windscreen-mounted camera to monitor Elexio’s position within a lane and automatically assists steering to prevent the vehicle from leaving the lane without an indicator engaged.
Smart Cruise Control (SCC 2)
Smart Cruise Control 2 uses the front radar sensor to help maintain a safe distance from the car ahead. If the driver does not respond to Forward Attention Warning alerts during SCC 2 operation, the system can automatically stop the vehicle while keeping it centred in the lane. After stopping, an SOS call will be placed and the system will unlock the doors and engage the electronic park brake.
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control –Curve (NSCC)
Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control can help the driver maintain a safe speed when driving on highways by automatically decelerating the vehicle or limiting acceleration when negotiating curves, as required, using curve data from the navigation system.
High Beam Assist (HBA)
High Beam Assist automatically activates the high beam headlights depending on the ambient light and general illumination, to maximise vision. The system automatically switches to low beam when it detects vehicles ahead, to avoid dazzling other road users.
Parking Collision-avoidance Assist – Reverse, Forward & Side (PCA-F/S/R)
Parking Collision-avoidance Assist monitors the front, sides and rear of Elexio and provides audible alerts when a potential collision is detected, to help the driver navigate tight spaces.
Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
Rear Occupant Alert assists to prevent the unintentional locking in or leaving behind of children or pets in the vehicle.
Upon parking and opening the driver’s door, ROA issues a warning chime and prompts the driver with a message to ‘check rear seats’, to ensure that occupants are not accidentally left behind.
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist underpins safe reversing manoeuvres in situations where the driver doesn’t have a clear view. The system will alert the driver with sounds and visuals if a vehicle is approaching from either side, and can automatically apply the brakes to help prevent a collision.
Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 (RSPA 3)
Remote Smart Parking Assist 3 lets users complete perpendicular, parallel, and diagonal parking manoeuvres from outside the vehicle using the Smart Key.
Surround View Monitor (SVM)
Surround View Monitor displays multiple views of Elexio to assist with manoeuvring, parking and driving. These include a 360-degree view, 3D view, and top view with guidelines, as well as car wash entering mode, driving rear-view mode and more, all designed to maximise driver confidence and convenience.
Safe Exit Assist (SEA)
Safe Exit Assist functions when electronic child safety lock is engaged and it detects a vehicle approaching from the rear. Under these conditions, the electronic child safety lock button will not unlock the rear doors, to help keep rear occupants safe.
